An earlier explosion at the chemical facility left 12 people missing and at least two people dead. The explosion occurred at a chemical plant in northeast China. In the explosion that occurred on Sunday on the outskirts of Panjin city in Liaoning province, east of Beijing, 34 additional people were hurt. Press releases from the local government featured images of the complex of pipelines, storage containers, and machinery for chemical processing that was engulfed in flames and heavy black smoke.

Firefighters have put out the wildfire, according to the government of Panshan county, which is located in the city’s outskirts, and the local environment department is keeping an eye on the effects on the area’s air quality.
